Grades: 3rd-5th grades
Subject: science, energy efficiency and conservation
Objective: The Alliance to Save Energy features a how-to guide on hosting a science fair that focuses on projects that examine energy conservation. The guide was created by a teacher in the Ross School District in California and is based on California’s science standards.
Overview: Try something different for this year’s science fair and have elementary students focus their projects on conserving energy in their community. Coordinate efforts with local environmental organizations, utilities, and other energy based groups. Students can also research their state’s energytrends.org data to find out how their state measures nationally.
